This block clearly shows the lacy gouges on its edges that are a characteristic of the artist's work. The bear, which is yellow-ochre colour in the engraving, appears here in the linoleum's grey tone. The young girl's dress and hair disappear under the gouge marks; her face floats alone like a pale, cold moon.
